Red Barn Recycling Center – July Recycling
Due to the Fourth of July holiday, the Red Barn Recycling Center will be CLOSED on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Saturday recycling in July will be held on July 11, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact the Township office at 610-845-7760.
PA State Police Issue Alert of Phishing Scam
The Pennsylvania State Police have issued a Community Awareness Bulletin regarding a new phishing scam that is circulating. This scam attempt involves a fraudulent email being sent that claims to originate from the PA Department of Transportation. Individuals are advised not to open any email with the subject line “Action Required – Fine for Traffic Violations.” Please see the Community Awareness Bulletin issued by the PA State Police HERE.

PennDOT Twelve Year Transportation Program Survey
Public feedback on the next update to Pennsylvania’s Twelve Year Transportation Program will be collected through May 29, 2015. The program outlines PennDOT’s next 12 years of projects for all modes of travel including car and truck, public transit, bicycle and pedestrian, aviation, rail and ports. You can provide your input via an Online Survey.

Hunting activity on Township Property
With the fall season here and winter soon to come, hunting season will be in full swing. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind all residents that the possession, use, or discharge of any firearm, air rifle, bow and arrow or any other weapon is prohibited in all Township parks and open space areas per chapter 76 of the Washington Township Code of Ordinances. This includes any and all hunting and target practice activity. If residents encounter any individual partaking in any of the aforementioned activities, please contact the Township at 610-845-7760.
Motor Vehicle Activity in Township Parks
Washington Township officials have received reports of motor vehicle activities occurring in the Township’s parks. The vehicles in question include snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles (“four-wheelers”), and trucks driving outside of designated areas. Please be advised that the operation of snowmobiles or any other motorized vehicles, except automobiles and trucks in designated areas, is prohibited in all Washington Township parks, recreation, and open space areas. Individuals who violate this provision are subject to a fine of up to $600.00, plus court costs.
If you witness this activity, please report it to the PA State Police, Berks County Crime Alert, and/or Christopher Bashore, Washington Township Manager. Please note that Berks County Crime Alert offers rewards of up to $5,000.00 for tips that lead to conviction.
