Hunting activity on Township Property

With the fall season here and winter soon to come, hunting season will be in full swing.  We wanted to take this opportunity to remind all residents that the possession, use, or discharge of any firearm, air rifle, bow and arrow or any other weapon is prohibited in all Township parks and open space areas per chapter 76 of the Washington Township Code of Ordinances.  This includes any and all hunting and target practice activity.  If residents encounter any individual partaking in any of the aforementioned activities, please contact the Township at 610-845-7760.

Motor Vehicle Activity in Township Parks

Washington Township officials have received reports of motor vehicle activities occurring in the Township’s parks.  The vehicles in question include snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles (“four-wheelers”), and trucks driving outside of designated areas.  Please be advised that the operation of snowmobiles or any other motorized vehicles, except automobiles and trucks in designated areas, is prohibited in all Washington Township parks, recreation, and open space areas.  Individuals who violate this provision are subject to a fine of up to $600.00, plus court costs.

If you witness this activity, please report it to the PA State Police, Berks County Crime Alert, and/or Christopher Bashore, Washington Township Manager.  Please note that Berks County Crime Alert offers rewards of up to $5,000.00 for tips that lead to conviction.

Thank you for your cooperation.
